It all started in Borik'en

Judith S. Brantley was raised in Puerto Rico by parents native to the island, with deep roots of Puerto Rican history, literature, culture, cuisine, and art. Having always enjoyed products cultivated on the island, but not having easy access to them in New Jersey, gave birth to Borik'en.  Borik'en, LLC is a distributor of coffee from select farms in the central region of Puerto Rico.

From our families to yours

Borik'en partners with coffee producers in Puerto Rico to help promote their products in New Jersey. A percent of all proceeds is reinvested in the recovery and sustainability of these farms. This partnership allows Borik’en to bring you delectable, hand-picked gourmet coffee beans from their farms to your cup. In turn, your purchase will help Puerto Rican farms receive much needed funding to replenish crops and increase coffee production.

Fostering sustainability

Recent climate events such as Hurricane Maria and pandemic challenges negatively impacted Puerto Rico’s farming communities. Borik’en, LLC wants to help farms replace lost crops and sustain their operations.  A percentage of all coffee sales will be donated to these farms for:

  • Purchasing quality seeds to replenish lost crops 

  • Paying labor costs 

  • Adopting and repairing roads to maintain farms’ agritourism

  • Acquiring alternate energy sources (e.g. solar, etc.) to gain independence from the island’s current unreliable power grid. 

 

Your purchase will directly contribute to this Borik’en, LLC sponsored recovery and sustainability project.

Bridge between communities

These climate events in Puerto Rico also allowed coffee farms to plant and cultivate new and healthy crops that produce delicious coffee beans. Borik'en, LLC will help promote and sell these farms’ quality products in New Jersey. Our goal is to bridge the gap by making this Puerto Rican specialty coffee, easily accessible here.
